Tomorrow I could be that man - by Jeff Briggs
Homelessness can happen to anyone!
There he stands, a broken man
Wondering what his next move should be
All his world has fallen down
Now he wears an angry frown
All he needs is a helping hand
And I will do this if I can
For tomorrow I could be that man
There alone in a world of his own
Wondering when his next meal will come
He once had three meals a day
But now his bones show with decay
All he needs is a helping hand
And I will do this if I can
for tomorrow I could be that man
In a doorway, where the bitter winds play
Wondering if he'll ever get to sleep
Wraps himself in a cardboard box
Toes poking out of his holey socks
All he needs is a helping hand
And I will do this if I can
For tomorrow I could be that man
They all pass him by, they don't hear his cry
They don't even notice him at all
He's still young, he won't grow old
And as the grave he will turn cold
All he needed was a helping hand
But its too late to say 'if I can'
For today I would be that man
